Why is it so important to take care of information assets?

 Every IT department has, or should have, a focus on reducing risks to information assets. Basically, the big goal is to protect everything that is critical information for the business and "run" in the company's daily routine.


Take billing routines as an example. If the responsible department loses billing information and is unable to generate a bill or receive from customers, this risks the operation to stop. In other words, billing information is a fundamental informational asset.

Now, if we look at the statistics related to information security, we see that the topic of care with information assets is of primary importance in the corporate world today.


According to the WISR - Worldwide Infrastructure Security Report, Netscout Arbor's annual report, companies in Brazil suffered an average of 30 denial of service attacks (application unavailability) per hour in 2017. Of this global ranking, we are the fifth country with higher incidence of this type of fraud.

In fact, information technology specialists can work in various areas of information technology. They work in the help desk to redress the problems that end users face. 

Another survey, conducted by PwC, found that Brazilian enterprises had losses in excess of $ 1 million in 2017 due to theft and damage, but also due to unavailability of services, applications and networks.


Ransomware attacks: an issue that haunts companies.


The good news is that, increasingly, companies of all sizes and in all segments have understood and sought to manage their information assets.
