Important Updates About The Cloud Certifications

New evidence to begin the report, in case you have not had enough with which it begins: the Cloud certifications become an opportunity to specialize and promote new business opportunities. The reason is clear: they evaluate the knowledge and skills of companies and the professionals who have them.

And, as who has a friend has a treasure - if you are a fan of the Spencer-Hill couple, do not miss Sergio Corbucci's film with the same title - a certificate of quality in the cloud will help grow the companies in the markets before any strategic direction that is realized. Essentially, because it provides the trust of suppliers and customers because these certifications recognize the technical knowledge and skills to correctly manage the tools based on said technology.

Now, what are these certifications and what are their characteristics and benefits? That is what we intend to unravel with this report.

Certifications

We do not rediscover America nor the potassium formula if we say that the main certifications that exist in the market are those of the public cloud providers of the market, who lead Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. "Although they have many points of similarity between them, each of the platforms focus on those capacities in which they are stronger, for which they bet and are the most demanded by organizations," acknowledges Ricardo Casanovas, CTO of the consultancy Linke

Thus, roughly, some of the institutions that have led the world in certifications for security professionals since the 1980s have adapted their curricula to include certifications focused on the unstoppable Cloud world . Some of the most prominent are the following:

• Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) of (ISC) 2 in collaboration with the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).

• Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) of the Cloud Security Alliance .

• Certified Cloud Security Specialist (CCSS) of the Global Science and Technology Forum .

• Professional Cloud Security Manager Certification (PCS) of the Cloud Credential Council.

• Certified Integrator Secure Cloud Services of EXIN.

Coverage:

Once the existing certifications are referred , it is time to analyze what they cover. And what they cover, in general, and not to make the partridge too dizzy, are the technical training to design, deploy, migrate and manage applications or workloads in the cloud.

Of course, it should be noted that there are different accreditations depending on the phase of the application life cycle: development, design, deployment and maintenance. "These certifications are usually very aligned with the most widespread trends in the technology sector, such as Agile or DevOps , and are also updated very often and evolve, so every two or three years you have to renew them," says Ricardo Casanovas

Thus, we have asked Dámaso Ramos, technical director of Lidera, to analyze each of those certifications, and this is his explanation:

• “ Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) of (ISC) 2. Although it is the most historical certification of (ISC) 2 - CISSP -, it includes more and more modules dedicated to securing Cloud environments . Moreover, this institution has taken Cloud security training and certification to another level with its CCSP. It includes domains to cover contents related to concepts of architecture, data security, infrastructure, platforms, applications, operations and aspects related to regulatory compliance.

• Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), from the Cloud Security Alliance , was the first certification launched by the CSA in 2010 and has been adopted by the IT professional community. It includes Cloud security concepts along with essential concepts related to Cloud Computing . The course includes recommendations of the ENISA ( European Union Agency for Network and Information Security ).

• Certified Cloud Security Specialist (CCSS), from the Global Science and Technology Forum, focuses on risk management in Cloud Computing environments such as identifying them, how to understand relationship problems and how to solve them. The design of an architecture aimed at securing Cloud environments is also part of the agenda.

• Professional Cloud Security Manager Certification (PCS), from the Cloud Credential Council , is a certification that aims to prepare IT professionals to manage cloud security and compliance risks related to Cloud Computing . Specifically, such certification focuses on technical and business challenges in a business environment.

• Certified Integrator Secure Cloud Services, from EXIN, is a certification that combines these three basic certifications: IT service management, Information Security and Cloud Computing ”.
